CSA Introduction
Pocket Farm’s CSA Program is currently accepting a limited number of applications for the 2014 season. If you are interested in supporting local farms; receiving a weekly share of our delicious, nutritious and organically grown produce; reducing your exposure to GMO’s, commercial pesticides and fertilizers, we welcome you to join our family farm.
What is a CSA Share?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and makes it possible for families and farmers to support each other and the local community. Our commitment to you is to provide your family with the best quality produce in a weekly basket. CSA members will share in our normal bounty and any surplus but also assume the risk of the farming season. We reserve the right, should we experience any crop failure, to trade or purchase from another local organic grower, to insure that your weekly basket is full and full of variety.
What will be in your weekly basket?
Full share baskets (8 – 11 items) and half share baskets (6 – 8 items) will be filled with our best seasonal items. We always grow typical seasonal produce as well as more unusual vegies (see the following chart for specific items) and take on a couple of new experimental varieties every year. We will provide you with new and exciting recipes weekly to help you get the most out of your CSA share. We would also like to get your favorite recipes! We hope that you will enjoy experimenting with some different vegies but will respect your specific dislikes or allergies. Just let us know!
When and how do you pick up?
The season is a total of 26 weeks. There are 2 market pickup locations and dates: Wednesday at the Main Street Farmers Market from 4 – 6 and Saturday at the Brainerd Farmers Market from 10 – 12. Pick up at our farm can be arranged if that is more convenient. If you are unable to pick up your basket, please send a friend. If you live within the Pocket Farm CSA delivery area we might be able to drop off your basket for an extra delivery fee. See below.
What are the Costs?
A full-share basket for 26 weeks is $780. A two-thirds share basket for 26 weeks is $520. Payment can be made in full, or half with your application and half by May 1. If you pay in full by March 15, you get a bonus of $20 worth of plants from our greenhouse (annuals, vegetable starts or herbs). We accept checks or credit cards (additional 2.3% for credit card sales.)
